THE STORY

‘Close To The Edge’ comes from 3 different angles… the person being bullied, the bully themselves and the person looking in.

It has been heard more than 1.9 million times in 195 countries and been used in short films, dance projects, music projects, documentaries and more.

I truly hope you will all take something from this song so that you think twice next time you’re about to say or do something that’s degrading to another. You never know where they are at in their lives… What if they’re already close to the edge?

float: left; float: left;

I wrote Close To The Edge two weeks before one of the most devastating moments of my life.

I heard someone screaming out one evening from across the road where I was living at the time. Another neighbor and I went over to see if she was ok. Through her back fence, she said ‘My son’s killed himself’.

Shocked, we ran through the house and into the backyard to see a mother with her lifeless teenage son in her arms.

I still remember the look on the father’s face as he arrived home, then the grandparents – the look of absolute helplessness… such a sad sad night.

Close To The Edge

Song Lyrics

SONG LYRICS

I’m standing close to the edge
And I witnessed all those things you said
I’ve tried not to let them in
But here I’m standing close to the edge

How was I supposed to know
Not to hate but to care
A distant dream that I forgot
Could have served me so well
So so well

Can’t you see that it’s not my fault
It’s just the way I’ve been brought up
Another person I can blame
Another way to hide my pain

Do you think
That ordinary people
With ordinary problems
Don’t suffer

Well I’m begging you
To hold your lips tight
There’s all of these people
Close to the edge

Be not forgotten
All who have fallen
All who have fallen
All who have fallen
Have fallen, have fallen
All who have fallen
Have fallen, have fallen

OFFICIAL LYRIC VIDEO

Sometimes in life we can get caught up in the day to day busyness of it all and through negative experiences, form beliefs about ourselves, others and the world that hold us back from experiencing a truly extraordinary life.

The limits we place on ourselves can mean losing sight of that creative, curious and playful side of ourselves.

Nothingness is about letting go of those limits, heading into the unknown and exploring what might be possible once agin in order to reach our full potential.

Journal Entry - Wrong Plane and Going Viral

In Northern Argentina this morning… took a 5 hour bus ride last night after flying into the wrong airport yesterday – now there’s a first!

About to be picked up to go into one of the last parts of the Interior Atlantic Rainforest.

My music video showcasing the natural beauty of Colombia has been getting shared – a lot!

30 minutes before I got picked up the official Facebook page for Colombia shared my video and it went viral… was being played more than 5,000 times an hour.

Hold The Power is a story about overcoming adversity and that it’s actually in our darkest days that we realize how strong we truly are. I actually wrote the song sometime around 2007 and originally recorded it in 2010. The latest version was then recorded and released in 2019.
