We live in a world that is moving faster than ever. The pressure to keep up, to achieve, and to look like we have it all together for our families and our teams is immense.
And it can often lead to burnout and a life spent constantly chasing the next thing, only to feel like we are still not enough.
My guest today knows this pressure intimately. Caleb Campbell was once known as “America’s Athlete”. A West Point graduate, an Army officer, and an NFL linebacker, he had built a seemingly perfect life: the ultimate scaffolding of success.
But in an instant, a sudden policy change erased his NFL dream, and that entire scaffolding collapsed.
In this conversation, Caleb shares how to view burnout not as a dead end, but as a powerful invitation for growth. We explore how to stop building our lives on the back of willpower and instead learn to “rest in the river,” unlocking the conviction needed to move from a life of survival to one of true purpose.
“I spent my whole life auditioning for my own acceptance, and I didn’t even know it. I was trying to fit in, but I never actually belonged to myself.” – Caleb Campbell.

About Caleb
Once known as “America’s Athlete,” Caleb Campbell is a West Point graduate, former Army officer, and NFL linebacker. Selected in the NFL draft under a groundbreaking Department of Defense policy allowing him to serve and play simultaneously, his dream was abruptly halted when the policy was rescinded hours before signing his first contract. This life-altering moment launched Caleb into an internal battle that ultimately became a catalyst for his greatest transformation.
Today, as an inspirational speaker on burnout, mental health, and leadership, Caleb connects with audiences facing relentless demands in a world that refuses to slow down. Through his powerful story and actionable framework, he helps others unlock the courage needed to turn life’s pressure into a pathway for something greater–individually and collectively.
When not speaking, Caleb lives in Nashville, TN, with his wife, Kara, and their two children, Sophie and Rune. He’s still campaigning for a Bernese Mountain Dog puppy.
